Senator Akpabio Exposed 20 APC Senators Planning to Decamp to PDP
Senator Akpabio exposed 20 APC Senators planning to decamp to PDP.This is coming shortly after a senator under the platform of PDP from Akwa Ibom State defected to the ruling party APC.
Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, a PDP Senator and the Minority Leader in the Senate talked about the issue of defection in the Nigerian Senate where Senators from PDP had to decamp to the ruling party APC base on reasons best known to the defectors.
Senator Akpabio on this note, said in the last PDP National Executive Committee meeting that 20 senators from the country’s ruling party APC are set to decamp to the former ruling party PDP and that they are just waiting for the PDP to resolve the internal issues before they could make a move.
The People’s Democratic Party PDP lost the beat of maintaining it ruling position in 2015 election when the then President Jonathan lost the Presidential election to the current President Buhari of APC.
Since then the People’s Democratic Party has been into one crisis to the other since it National Convention in Rivers State.
The party has been divided into two factions, One faction, loyal to the former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi and the second faction to Ali Sherrif, the former Governor of Borno State.
On this grounds, Senators and members of the People’s Democratic Party have been defecting to the ruling party APC on ground that the People’s Democratic Party may not be able to solve their internal crisis.
Just last week a former speaker in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and the current Senator representing Eket Senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate defected from PDP to the ruling party APC on the grounds that the former party members in PDP were unable to resolve the internal crisis in Akwa Ibom State. But in response to this, Senator Akpabio dismissed his claims and said there was no such crisis in PDP in Akwa Ibom State.
Senator Akpabio Exposed 20 APC Senators Planning to Decamp to PDP and gave an advice to those planning to leave PDP to desist from the plans and have a rethink so they won’t regret their actions as PDP is planning to recapture it ruling position come 2019.
