Rann IDP camp in Borno has become a home for so many displaced people in Borno State as a result of insurgency in the region by Boko Haram.

In today’s incident at the Rann IDP camp, about 52 people have been confirmed dead while over 120 people got injured as a result of the accident by the Nigerian Airforce jet.

Brigadier General Rabin karaoke,  who confirmed the incident said:

“It was a mistake in the side of the military pilot in the course of  carrying out his duty bad the the military deeply regret the mistake.”

The Brigadier further explained that:

“The soldiers got information of movement of Boko Haram members and deployed ground troops and air cover to tackle the terrorists.

It was the air support that mistakenly dropped the bomb.”

Efforts are being made to evacuate the bodies of those who lost their lives and the wounded ones to the hospital.

Major General Lucky Irabor, who happens to be the Theatre Commander of Nigerian forces in Borno, said at a press conference:

“This morning today, we received reports about gathering of Boko Haram terrorists somewhere in Kala Balge Local Government area of Borno State.

“We got a coordinate and I directed that the air should go to address the problem.Unfortunately the strike was conducted but it turned out that the locals somewhere in Rann were affected.

“We are yet to get the details of the casualties. But we have some civilians that have been killed, others are wounded and we also have two of our soldiers that were also wounded.

“Among some that are wounded are local staffs of the Medicine Sans Frontiers as well as ICRC.”

The issue of Boko Haram in Borno State has become a thing of concern even though the Presidency and the Nigerian Military go about celebrating their presumed victory over Boko Haram in the region. The region still suffers attack almost every week.

To ukrido’s readers, what do you think, the Nigerian government and their military need to overcome Boko Haram in this region totally?
