Governor Obaseki Of Edo State Allegedly Wasted N2billion On Maize Farming
Governor Obaseki Of Edo State Allegedly Wasted N2billion On Maize Farming. The Edo State Governor, who inspected a 450 hectare maize farm on Wednesday, got the shock of his life as the alleged N2billion maize plantation could not give him his desire result.
One Aroms Aigbehi, took to his Facebook page to write about the expression of the governor over the poor results from the N2billion maize investment, according to Mr Aroma, he wrote;
“I felt sorry for Governor Godwin Obaseki when I saw these photos. They were taken Wednesday when he inspected the 450 hectare maize farm, a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative of his administration with Saro in Sobe.
“You only have to see the facial expression to know he was not happy with what he saw there. Looking at the people there, It doesn’t look like they can make Edo great. Apart of the supper closeup photo of Obaseki inside a 450 hectares maize farm. What you can see are unhealthy maize crops that were not cultivated properly and having nutrient deficiency. Sorry, I am an agriculturist I see these things.
“In his reaction the governor said it best ‘There were few challenges encountered by the farmers and we will go back to the drawing board to ensure that there is significant improvement in the next phase,’ Drawing board again.
“Unfortunately, These were the same challenges I wrote about in my proposal for the Smallholders farmers to the governor which was plagiarized by the Administration. If only they have done the right thing from the start then the result would have been much better, Another N2 billion will be wasted here without the intended result. Sad.”
