3000 births registered in IDP Camps between January and June 2017. The Sate Emergency Management Agency in Borno on Monday disclosed the total number of registered birth in camp among the internally displaced persons in the last 6 months.
According to the Chairman State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Satomi Ahmad, who disclosed the news yesterday in Maiduguri, he said;
“The births were registered at various camps located in the state capital between January and June.
He further said;
“The birth records showed a significant increase in view of the high number of couples staying at the camps.
“The mothers were supported with drugs and reproductive kits.The agency was working in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Health to support expectant mothers and enhance reproductive health management in the camps.
“SEMA had provided ambulances to enhance referral services and reduce mortality.
Ukridosblog, also learnt that SEMA had recorded 13,000 births in camps in last four years.
